As part of budget program 019 for the introduction of innovative technologies in forming sturgeon broodstock to obtain food caviar using the non-lethal (live-stripping) method—implemented jointly with the LLP “Fisheries Research and Production Center” and the Akimat of Mangystau Region—the first stage of work was successfully completed at the facilities of the “Kazakh Osseter” Research and Production Enterprise LLP.
The project aims to expand the range of legal sturgeon products, as well as to enhance its export and domestic potential in the region.
During the first stage, with the active participation of Guldana Maratova (Researcher at the Aquaculture Laboratory) and Zhasulan Urynbaev (Invited Fish-Breeding Technologist), a comprehensive set of key activities was carried out:
Tagging of caviar-bearing females using PIT tags;
Grading (bonitation) and selection of a promising broodstock;
Installation works and comprehensive preparation of the wintering complex;
Adaptation of fish followed by stocking for the wintering period;
Successful harvesting of food caviar via the non-lethal method.
This stage marks a significant milestone in the development of sustainable and modern aquaculture in the Mangystau Region, focusing on environmental friendliness, premium quality, and high value-added products.
