07-08 July 2023, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Fishery Scientific Research: Experience, Problems and Prospects” was held in Balkhash city in honour of the 90th anniversary of the Balkhash branch of “Scientific and Production Centre of Fishery” LLP.

The conference was held in offline and online formats. Among the participants: domestic and foreign scientists, natural resources departments, representatives of interregional basin inspectorates, heads of fish farms and nature users.

In the Conference programme: welcoming speech of the Director General of “Scientific and Production Centre of Fishery” LLP, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of RK Isbekov K.B. and Doctor of Geological Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences Amirgaliev N.A., honouring of veterans, awarding of prizes: medal “Honoured Worker of Fishery”, badge “For irreproachable work in fishery”, certificates from the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, from the Chairman of the Committee of Fishery and from the General Director of “Scientific and Production Centre of Fishery” LLP.

The report on the history of the Balkhash branch was made by S.J. Asylbekova, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Deputy General Director of “Scientific and Production Centre of Fishery” LLP. Also, reports were made by directors and heads of Altai, Atyrau, Balkhash, Aral, West-Kazakhstan, Northern branches and the head office.

During the conference were considered and discussed issues of development of the fishing industry, the prospects for increasing the potential of commercial fishing in the country, voiced scientific research in the field of aquaculture, fodder production for fish, some results of research sport and amateur fishing in Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of the conference a collection of materials was issued, including the results of research and development of domestic and foreign scientific research of the fishery industry.

The 90th anniversary of the Balkhash Branch and the International Conference were timed to coincide with the professional holiday “Day of Fishery Workers”, which is celebrated in Kazakhstan every 2nd Sunday of July.
