Based on the permit for research fishing issued by the Fisheries Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the scientific and technical program for 2024-2026: “Development and implementation of innovative technologies and new aquaculture facilities that are cost-effective in the natural and climatic conditions of various regions of Kazakhstan” (IRN: BR23591065), employees of the Altai branch of FishRPC caught wild sterlet from the Yertysh River, transported the caught sterlet of the Irtysh population to the OstFish sturgeon farm, where it is planned to carry out work on the formation of a replacement broodstock of sterlet in a closed-loop aquaculture system (RAS).

At the moment, the adaptation of the caught individuals, individual marking with electronic tags, collection of data on the conditions of maintenance of the broodstock, collection of morphological indicators from the caught sterlet individuals are carried out. Also, selection of biological material for genetic assessment and development of genetic passports has been carried out.
